World in a walnut: Crystal Cave

Just a small, quick project ... I often think that and of course it always takes more time than I thought beforehand 😁. This is because I start with a rough idea and then add more and more details along the way. Covering the inside with Fimo (polymer clay) was done quite quickly. Then I started working with the translucent crystals. And that's quite difficult to make, to get something so small to look sharp and shiny. Why not also add some mushrooms? And why not a vein of gold? And while I'm at it, also a root system to emphasize the underground idea. Which of course has to hang freely, so wafer-thin and baked in steps. But the best thing is to add an animal. Once I had that thought, of course I had to add a bat. You actually can fit quite a lot in a little walnut 😂.

Everything in the walnut is made from Fimo (polymer clay). I bought the brass hinge at https://www.hobby-en-modelbouw.nl/. The hinge is glued with superglue, but to finish it off I filled the holes with 'screw heads' from Fimo. The (closed) walnut is 3 x 3.5 x 3.1 cm (HxWxD).
