Miniature Needlepoint

Tinkering with tiny things is fun. I don't know why, but somehow I have endless patience for it. Not so much for other things, such as shopping or being stuck in traffic 😏. Since I started embroidering again a few years ago, my partner gave me a number of miniature dollhouse scale embroidery kits as a gift. That's how my Fimo hobby started too... 😅

I had never seen these kits before. I am not a dollhouse enthousiast. But I was immediately taken by the kits, I will definitely use them in my projects. Make no mistake, even if it is very small, it takes just as much time as 'regular' embroidery! All sorts of kits are available, from rugs to tea cozys. You guessed it, a rug and tea cozy were among the kits I received as a gift. I started with the easiest one (the sampler) and worked my way up to the more complicated kits. Counting is certainly a challenge with this scale. The tea cozy was even smaller than the rest and it was the first embroidery kit I also had to assemble. The rug was definitely the hardest. I had never embroidered with real wool before. You have to work with shorter threads because otherwise the wool will wear out too quickly during embroidery. Counting is also more difficult, because it is so woolly (😏), you don't see the holes very well. In addition, I found it difficult to embroider the wool with even tension everywhere. Someone who knows how it's done, will probably see all the mistakes I made. But I have to say, the after-treatment with an iron makes up for a lot 😁.
