Pattern Vase

The pattern I used was inspired by a traditional Ukrainian pattern I saw on a bracelet. On it, the pattern was geometric, but it comes from traditional embroidery. I therefore wanted to make ithe lines a little less clean, more like fabric lying over something. I built the pattern in a cane by combining different shapes with an extruder. I then made the cane in different sizes and placed it on the vase in slices. Just like the Vein Vase I got this vase because it was no longer used. The bottom was terracotta and the top glazed. That smooth top made it a bit more difficult to apply the slices of my cane properly, but with some patience it worked. I didn't think about the sizes in advance, I let the pattern develop organically. Then everything was put together as best as possible by gently rolling over the seams in different directions. After firing I sanded the vase extensively (read: for hours 😅), starting with grain 240 up to grain 3000. I always sand wet, because inhaling Fimo (polymer clay) dust is not so nice 😉. After all that sanding, the vase has a pretty smooth surface with a satin sheen. To finish it off, I polished the vase with a Dremel

The vase is made of ceramic and is covered with Fimo (polymer clay). The vase has a diameter of 8.5 cm and a height of 15.5 cm.
