Pakjesavond

I made this scene a while ago, possibly 2 years ago. Pakjesavond (literally: presents evening) is a Dutch tradition on december 5th, and what could be more traditional than little Dutch houses? So I made the silhouettes of Saint Nicholas on his horse and Pete with his burlap sack filled with presents, climbing over the rooftops. The distribution of the presents takes place in the evening, so with glass paint I created a dark blue sky. And during the dark days people love to burn candles, so I wanted to put in an LED tea light, but I found out that it just didn't fit through the opening of the jar 😣 After lots of thinking and experimenting, my partner managed to find a solution for this, using his 3D printer. Then I cast two molds for a holder for the lamp and a cover that slides over it like a lid. Because of the theme of this scene, it had to be a present, complete with bow 😊

It is a glass jar, painted on the inside with glass paint and covered with Fimo (polymer clay) on the outside. The lid and housing of the LED light are also made of Fimo. The LED light has a 3D printed mechanism with a push button on the top. The battery can be replaced. It has a diameter of 5.5 cm and a height of 7.6 cm.
