Polymer Clay

In 2017 I received a few packs of Fimo (polymer clay) as a gift. I had never heard of it, but I was immediately sold on it. Since then I have spent many hours creating various projects.

Although it is called clay, it is a plastic. It can be baked at a relatively low temperature (this differs per type, so always check the packaging!) And you don't need a special oven for it. It can be baked repeatedly, which is useful when you need to build something in several steps.

You can make almost anything with it. I soon found out that I like to make miniatures and most pieces have a natural style. I think it's funny to include small animals in my scenes, so that there is something to discover for those who take the trouble to look closely.

I discover everything by trial and error. Sometimes I watch some instructional videos on the internet and then combine different techniques. Often I can't find an instructional video and then I make several trial versions and see what gives the best result. It is precisely the discovery and the process in which I convert an idea into a tangible result that makes it so much fun to do!
