Kitty Cross Stitch

It can’t have escaped anyone’s attention that I love cats. Our own tomcat, Kitty, always wanted to ‘help out’ with my projects 😅. I spent hours removing cat hair from my Fimo, fabrics and yarn. He loved to sit on my lap while I was embroidering. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago 😪. I made a photo collage with all kinds of pictures of him. In one of the pictures that we like the most, Kitty looks great, but he is lying on advertising leaflets. We removed the background and pasted the image of the cat on his favorite chair. I then converted this into a cross stitch embroidery pattern using the program PCstitch. I have used the program before to design a decorative border to finish an embroidery kit. This was the first time I used the program to convert a photo and I was pleasantly surprised by how close the pattern resembles the photo. Now we have a beautiful and very recognizable memory of our little ball of fluff.

I used DMC yarn to make the cross stitch pattern. It has a size of 17 x 18 cm (H x W). I framed it in a simple matt black profile with non-reflective acrylic. I had the frame made to measure via fotolijst.nl. The project lasted from June 2024 to February 2025.
