So far I have been creating my sewing projects using my trusty 1974 Singer Startlet, given to me by my mother years ago when she bought a new sewing machine. That machine is indestructible, but limited in possibilities. Now that I'm becoming more and more handy with fabrics (at least I think so myself 😅), I notice that I want to make more complex pieces. That's why I gifted myself a new sewing machine. It is quite a step, from a 'museum piece' to modern technology 😁
Of course, I wanted to try out as many new gadgets as possible. So I came up with my most complicated bag yet. With leftover fabrics and without a pattern, because why should I make it easy for myself? I used all kinds of stitches, for strength and as a decorative finish. I combined different fabrics, stitched impossible corners, used zippers, stitched decorative seams, you name it. The waistband has become the shoulder strap. Because this is made of stretch fabric, I lined it with leftover pieces of saddle leather. This way it is a comfortable shoulder strap that does not stretch. It has zip pockets, the compartment is divided into 2 parts and next to the part that you can close with the zipper, there is a space where you can put an umbrella or bottle. Both parts are covered with a flap with magnetic closure.
Is it a professional result? Certainly not. But it is a very fun project!
The bag contains 1 complete pair of jeans, parts of 2 old shirts and a shirt. The bag is 35 x 32 x8 cm (HXWXD).
